Richard Torres is a Peruvian actor and activist who tied the knot with his spouse "A Tree" at a ceremony in Bogotá's National Park on Sunday,This is not his first marriage to a tree. The reason for the ceremony was to raise awareness of environmental issues. Richard said he hoped people would take a leaf out of his book and pay more attention to the man-made environmental problems around the world. He asked that rebels from Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia change from making war to planting trees.
Torres said:
"The jungles of Peru, Colombia, Mexico, are being chopped down, The oceans are being killed. The sky is being killed. The animals are being killed. With this project we are creating an initiative so that humans start to commit to nature and stop destroying it."
During the ceremony, young girls placed fruits and vegetables at the base of the tree as offerings.
